She knew that she could fly

DRESS - RED HERRING
NECKLACE - SPORTSGIRL

In a sleeveless dress she walked through the wind and the rain to the one spot she knew she could fly.  People scurried by with jackets rugged up to their necks, trying to make it home to their warm fires before the storm came over the mountains.
The old bridge shook with the wind but she didnt hesitate... she stood on the side railing, the pink dress whipping up behind her and she looked out over the city.
With the wind wrapping around her and the rain splashing her face she felt at one with the seagulls and the ducks and the crows...
She felt as if she could fly.

Wash my blues away

I feel the icy sting as the water runs through my toes and around my ankles, making its way downstream. A thrilling sensation, both horrible and amazing  at the same time. The rocks beneath my feet tremble as a take a step closer to the middle of the river, sending dirt swirling through the now-not-so-clear water. As the sun beams through the parting clouds for the last time that evening i soak up its warmth, before a cool evening breeze escapes the rustling leaves of the surrounding trees and brushes past me. A shiver runs over me and little goosebumps appear on my skin. Unfazed, i take a seat on a submerged rock and let the water envelope my body. Water so cold that i feel as if i were laying on a million tiny pins, and, laying back onto a bed of rocks i watch the sunset light up the sky in a sea of red and pink...
.....letting the river wash my blues away.

For a frolic in the country and a dip in the river i opted for a summer dress (make the most of the sun, eh?). A dress as pretty as this one doesnt need any accessories. it speaks for itself dont you think?

From the country to the sea

Fancy a dip?
Fish and chips in hand and a spring in our step Alistair and i traipsed down the sandy lawns to the beach to enjoy my favourite form of take away. The rich smell of the thickly battered fish and slightly over cooked but delightfully crispy chips brought along a large flock of seagulls who fought around us, waiting for a catch.
The beach has always been one of my favourite places to go to when i needed a break. The sound of the water lapping the shore and the screech of the seagulls overhead was always so peaceful. An excuse to show off your legs in a bright dress and dip your feet into the rock pools.

Where i like to call home
As much as i love the coast line i have to admit that i am and always will be a country girl. There is nothing i enjoy more than heading back to the farm to see my family and meet all the new baby animals. I am lucky enough to live (my second home) on a huge dairy farm in the beautiful hills of Tasmania where the views are just incredible.
As incredible as the country lifestyle is i cant say a lot for its fashion, where jeans, a flanny and gumboots are a regular trend, so whenever i go home wearing a $200 dress and heels i feel a bit out of place. No matter though, right? My nicer outfit isnt going to stop me running around the paddocks being chased by hungry calves or jumping off large bales of hay...
But at the end of the daywhether by the sea or in the foot hills of beautiful mountain ranges, it's these places that i like to call home.

Like a virgin || OOTD

As the days start getting colder i find myself searching the racks in clothing stores for something a little warmer that i might be able to add to my wardrobe. When searching the local surf shop, Red Herring, i came across a pair of black waxed denim jeans that caught my attention. Normally when seeing a pair of jeans i automatically dismiss them- i hate wearing denim, cant stand how uncomfortable they are or the way they make my body look. However, I picked the black pair of jeans up and took them to the dressing rooms to try on.

Boy was i shocked.
The brand of these jeans is ResDenim and they are the most comfortable jeans i have ever worn, but they're not just comfortable, oh no... they are also flattering, trendy and give my bum the nicest shape i've seen any jean give. I was so impressed i bought them, my first pair of jeans.

After being strangely surprised at how much i fell in love with these jeans, i decided to give other forms of denim a go and pulled this old denim cut off jacket out of the bottom of my wardrobe. Styled with a plain white singlet and some high heel boots this look was complete, giving me a look i wouldn't normally go for, although i do have to admit.... i didn't mind it at all.

In a rose garden, sipping on some tea

A tea dress, not the perfect dress from a blustery day. As i walked town the main street of Oatlands, in Tasmanias midlands, i had to hold down my dress, and my honour, as the breeze danced around my legs, trying to parachute the fabric.
I love a historic village, with the old shops transformed into little tea rooms and gift shops, and the old rose gardens that surround perfectly manicured lawns, so when we drove through this little town i had to get out and have a look around.

BAG - OASAP

The days attire was more a comfort choice, as i was to be sitting in a car for long hours on our drive to the south of the state. A heavy tea dress with a light floral print paired with a blouse seemed the right choice. Simple, warm, and comfortable. I always think a dress/blouse combo looks so much more elegant with a beehive, big or small.
As i travel a bit more around the state i am beginning to discover what a beautiful place it really is.

Standing on the edge of the world OOTD

I always forget just how beautiful Tasmania is. With the busy markets, the tall buildings and the hustle bussle of people i dont often stop and take a look at the glorious crafts and produce, the beautiful, awe-inspiring architecture and the magnificent views that lay around me. I do live in one of the most beautiful places i have ever known.

Standing on the warf down at Hobart i felt as if i was standing on the edge of the world, knowing that so much sea stood before me, separating me from the rest of civilisation. A serene feeling, yet so calming. Maybe this is the spot that i will visit when everything gets a bit too stressful.

An old lady came up to me while shooting this photo, purple umbrella over her head, just to tell me that i was the "loveliest looking girl I've seen all day". I dont often get compliments. That tiny little lady made me smile for the rest of the day. If by chance you are reading this, lovely lady, thank you.
The outfit was 60's inspired with this incredible dress from Vashti Boutique and small beehive hairdo. The dress was paired with a stunning and very bold necklace which is also from Vashti. I jingled when i walked and felt a million dollars.
